How A Hobby Can Help Ease Your Mind

I’m something you would call an overthinker, I think to much but I just can’t seem to help it. I know there are a lot of people out there who are in the same boat, so I have a bit of advice for you.

Why Not Get Yourself A Hobby?

Hobbies can really change the way that you feel about life, especially if you going outdoors and doing something different. I decided to take up Surfing, I know a bit of a strange one, but it’s a fantastic way to relieve stress, stop that brain going at 1000 capacity and just generally relax doing what I enjoy. I started by visiting an activity centre in North Devon called Active Escape. They’ve got all kinds of different activities available, from coasteering to Kayaking but I was mainly interested in taking up the surfing side of things. I took my first board into the water and from then on I was hooked. I just couldn’t help myself, I was down the beach whenever I had any free time!

Now a year on I’m much more confident, I own my own board, and I just can’t help but get into the cold Atlantic ocean, (sometimes even in the winter!). Thank goodness I also own a wetsuit! There’s nothing quite like riding that wave back into the coast.
Not only that though, I get to meet people and make new friends. Hang around Zumajay (the surf shop) chatting with the guys in there. I will most likely be buying my winter gear now as its getting ridiculously cold! In fact, it’s probably not sensible to surf at all in the coming weather. I guess i’ll just have to find another hobby to keep me occupied over the winter.
